Back [Mar. 18th, 2004|09:19 pm]

[music |Cake--Short skirt/long jacket]

from some undeserved vacationing of sorts.

Went to British Columbia for a week. My buddy Matt lives in studio in veerrry sporty/chic Kitsilano. Everyone is out running with a dog and the official uniform is some sort of athletic gear: trackpants, puff vests, hiking or jogging. And of course universally fit and attractive...seriously gym-guilt set in.

Didn't explore Vancouver as much as I should have, although I did have one solid day wandering through a bit of beach/park in Kits before loping though downtown. Instead, I spent most of time indoors with Matt, as we tried to finish up our freelance D20 project...and some guilty pleasure--got to play in 2 sessions with Matt, who I've somehow transformed into quite a geek by giving him an excuse to start playing when I helped him start this freelancing thing. I did in buying a jacket with Matt and his gf and they also took me through the lovely market on Granville Island. Also gorged myself on tons of cheap and wonderful sushi. And gorgeous weather--a cool 15 C the whole time, and not a speck of rain...then I spent all of Monday flying back, and landed in chilly New Haven, just in time to catch the snowstorm the next day. As a result, my drive to Vermont to meet my parents to go skiing was delayed a day, and I was tired enough that I caught myself cursing about it.

Did manage to feel guilty about that last bit, because even though I'd missed the day skiing, the 'rents were in a good, non-arguing mood, and they had a surprise birthday present waiting for me (I'll let the, what, one person who reads this try to guess--it's a gadget). Got in quite a few runs today, and the drive back was surprisingly painless...back to work now...

I did this for you, babe...

OK, so I don't think I'll be using this much. I do like the penguins, though.

(Kitty icons would have been too fruify, even for this sensitive, civil-unions supporting, as-far-as-I-know straight guy.)
